A few folks have picked up Image Comics series Saga because of the proselytizing that has taken place here at The Stake. So it felt appropriate to put out a quick note and say: if you’ve enjoyed the story to this point and are anxiously awaiting the release of Volume 3, it will be released this Wednesday, March 19.
Saga, you might remember, is the epic sci-fi extravaganza about two young lovers starting a family in a war-torn universe while pursued TV-headed robots and sorta-sympathetic bounty hunters. Written by Brian K. Vaughan and drawn and colored by Fiona Staples, Saga‘s beautiful and funny and pervy. Winner of all the awards, and loved by all the humans, the continuation is highly anticipated.
Not that we’re excited.
A note to Image Comics, et al. This model for release has been fantastic. Monthly issues, then a hiatus which includes the release of the combined trade, then a break. It allows readers to catch up if they want to read the monthly, or just wait for graphic novel without having the next part of the story already released-and discussed-in the world. This model’s particularly valuable for those of us who would rather read the graphic novels than the individual comic books-a market that I assume must be growing.
