Brett Gelman, who has a knack for playing slightly creepy white guys in Netflix’s Love and Amazon’s Fleabag, has co-written and is starring in Janicza Bravo’s upcoming film Lemon.
Gelman plays Isaac, a failed actor who watches his life fall apart after his spouse of ten years (Judy Greer) leaves him. Bravo’s film looks like an early Wes Anderson film crossed with Little Miss Sunshine and sprinkled with a hint of Napoleon Dynamite. Bravo is a costumer whose short film Eat debuted at SXSW to critical acclaim and she has directed episodes of Atlanta and Divorce.
I’ll admit, Lemon looks like THAT hipster lovable loser film and they threw Michael Cera in there, smokin’ a damn cigarette and sportin’ an ironic mustache. It could be great. It could be horrid. I, for one, will take the risk and see it in theaters when it is released on August 18.
